Course Overview

Mobile devices are a part of personal and work life and include cell phones, smartphones, smart watches, tablets, laptops, and other portable devices. By connecting mobile devices to the internet, users can do nearly anything that a larger personal computer can do. However, with the increase in productivity, organizations also face risks keeping their data secure. This course provides an overview of mobile devices and applications, key risks, controls, and best practices, and participants review essential hardware and software considerations related to these technologies. Topics covered include wireless networks, connectivity risks, mobile payments, data security, Mobile Device Management (MDM), mobile threats and common attacks, vulnerability management, application development, Incident Response (IR), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), and key auditable areas and approaches. Using a practical approach, participants learn from best practices, they apply the concepts learned to their organizational environments, and are encouraged to assess real-world mobile risks and develop audit steps. Participation Policy for On-Demand, Self-Paced Courses

Students enrolled in on-demand, self-paced courses are expected to take an active role in their learning by progressing through the course materials in a timely and consistent manner. Because these courses are self-directed, full completion of all modules, videos, labs, and assessments with a passing score of 70 are required to receive credit and any applicable CPEs.

Learners are encouraged to set a regular study schedule to stay on track and maximize comprehension. CPE credits will be awarded based on the total course hours and verified completion of all required activities.
